Clachan Ban, (The White Cottage) is a delightful single storey cottage situated in a secluded yet accessible location at the southern end of the beautiful Isle of Skye. Originally owned by Lord Macdonald of Skye and gifted to his gamekeeper, the cottage has recently been tastefully renovated and refurbished by its current owners.

An entrance hall leads through to a charming lounge with a large wood-burning stove. The wide picture windows drink in the amazing views of historic and picturesque Eilean Iarmain harbour, Isle Ornsay and onwards to the Sound of Sleat, the hills of Glenshiel and the mountains of Kintail. The bright, modern, well-equipped kitchen / dining room looks out across the country garden. There are two good-sized bedrooms and an attractive modern bathroom. The owner is an artist and the soft furnishings and décor are all beautifully colour co-ordinated. Some of her original paintings adorn the walls.

A fully enclosed garden surrounds the property. Mainly consisting of grassed areas it also has a variety of mature shrubs and wild plants and flowers. The land at the back leads directly onto open hillside. Just 5 minutes away is the historic harbour of Eilean Iarmain. Here small boats and crafts are moored and in season visitors can take a trip to view the sea-life closer to hand as well as launch their own small boats or canoes from the jetty. There is an excellent hotel right on the shore-line offering good seafood and fresh local produce to non-residents.

The area is a magnet for artists and there are exhibitions from internationally renowned artists at various times of the year. Known as "the Garden of Skye" this southern end of this beautiful Isle is renowned for its lovely coastline and miles of stunning scenery as well as its superb walking, climbing, bird-watching and beautiful fauna and flora. It also offers easy access to a wealth of historical sites and places of interest.

The fairy tale castle of Eilean Donan, the charming sea port of Kyle of Lochalsh, the Gavin Maxwell Otter Centre at Kyleakin, numerous distilleries and ancient historical sites are all within easy reach. Golf, fishing, mountain-biking, walking, climbing, sailing, kayaking and horse-riding are all enjoyed locally.
